Sketchbook rant warning!
The results of my informal survey of all the (30ish) creative writing PhD programs in the US are about 15% pro-comics, 50% somewhat-suspicious/skeptical-of-comics, and 25% hates-comics.  This comics fault line also seems to correlate kind of strangely with red-state/blue-state lines — colleges in liberal cities and states were more likely to be on board the Comics-As-Literature train than those in conservative areas.

  2. kittenshiv said: Now you know which programs are the douchebaggiest! Also: move to Vancouver with me (probably). It’s like Boulder with an ocean and in Canada. And I have a cat and some shrimp. I don’t know of any grad program that can offer that!
